WORKSHOPS: LIVE SOUND FOR MUSICIANS

Your PA is a tool – like a guitar, piano, any instrument/voice you use – to make music. All musicians should have a basic understanding of the components of PA and how it works. From bookstores, to clubs to festivals the basics of a PA are the same.

Spend an afternoon with Alicia Healey to build your confidence and knowledge about live sound as it pertains to the needs of musicians.

Things you will learn and do:

• PA Basics (Sound reinforcement 101) (set up of a basic system)

• Preparation for a gig

• – creating a stage plot (you will leave with yours!)
• – rehearsing your sound check (yes, you will try this!)
• – what to take with you to a gig (you’ll start to build your list!)

• Working with a sound engineer (we’ll role-play!)

• Running your own sound – tips and examples (including different kinds of mics and mic placement)

• Answer your questions about gear, prep and performance!
